UNASCO Building Gut By Fire

A three-storey building owned by the Bono East Regional NDC Chairman, Honorable Unasco Owusu has been gutted by fire.

The UNASCO building which is located at the Techiman WA station caught fire around 12:30 pm today and a total of ten stores including a latex foam depot which is located in the building got burnt.

Account to some eyewitnesses, the fire initially started behind the UNASCO building, "it started at the back and burnt 30 minutes before the fire caught the main UNASCO Latex foam depot, but the sad news is, the first firefighters who responded were not fighting the fire but sprayed their water on the glasses Infront of the building " an eye witness told Soireenews reporter, Sikahemaa, 

The Bono East Regional Fire Commander, ACFO George Anim Frimpong, in an interview with the media, revealed that the Fire Command received a distress call at 12:55 pm.

According to him, they called for assistance from the Wenchi, Nkoranza and  Kintampo Fire Command and also got additional two fire tenders from Ghana Nut Computer Limited.

ACFO Frimpong Anim further stated there was a shortage of water in the nearest fire water hydrant but eventually got water from a nearby Hotel to quench the fire.

He revealed that 50 minutes was the time frame for bringing the fire under control as putting an end to the situation was at 2:30 pm. He assuring that his outfit has commenced an investigation to find the source of the fire outbreak. 

In the same vein, the Techiman Divisional police commander, Chief Superintendent, Ohene Boadi Bosman, disclosed to the media that, his outfit rushed to the scene to protect life and properties around the area. 

He said some people usually take undue advantage of such unfortunate situation to steal goods and in order to prevent such actions, he deployed police personnels to salvage some goods and also protect life.
