Wendy Shay has said that the Vodafone Ghana Music Award's board is not sincere with its awards allocation.

According to the Rufftown Records signee, the VGMA give out awards to the artists that they like instead of giving awards to the people that really deserve it.

This she said concerning her inability to bag any awards at the recently held 22nd edition of the VGMA's even though she was nominated for the 'Afrobeats song of the year' with her 'Emergency' song and the 'Hip-hop song of the year' category with her feature on Eno Barony's 'Enough, is Enough'.

She noted that she had refused to involve herself in the award scheme in the first place because she was already aware of the bias that the VGMA has towards some artists.

Just like the shady political parties (NPP and NDC), the VGMA will gladly sideline talent just to give its favourites awards.

“We have two types of artists in Ghana. These are artists in the industry and industry artists. For instance, I am an industry artist. There are some group of artists that the industry loves so much, they pamper them at any given chance."

"Even if they don’t deserve some awards, they will be given. With someone like me for instance it has to be very obvious that I will be given an award before I am given."

"For instance, in recent times I have worked very hard despite the pandemic and as such, I deserved to be acknowledged at the VGMAs but I knew I wouldn’t be given because the board had their favourites,” she noted.

While speaking an interview with Sammy Flex, Wendy Shay noted that the VGMA and 3Music Awards are both the same just like National Democratic Congress(NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“Although they are all doing well, they are the same. They are like NPP and NDC.”
