We Are Suffering Under Leadership Of Adansi  Fomena MP--Traditional Ruler & Residents Of Meduma Cry Out
Member of Parliament (MP) for Adansi Fomena North constituency, Honourable Andrew Amoako Asiamah
TRADITIONAL ruler and residents who are staying in Meduma, the farming community in the Adansi Fomena North Constituency of the Ashanti Region have threatened to boycott the 2024 general election over the lack of social and infrastructure developmental projects in the constituency.

The residents who are predominantly farmers and traders lamented that they have been denied from their share of the national cake since 1992 and expressed disappoinment in Member of Parliament (MP) for Adansi Fomena North constituency, Honourable Andrew Amoako Asiamah for failure to honor his promise of lobbying for the development projects to be brought to Meduma.

Fuming with anger, the residents accused Honourable Asiamah and District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, Mr Eric Kwaku Kusi for taking them for granted, saying that ever since the MP and DCE took office, the two have failed to live up to their expectations.

According to them, the two have neglected the people of Meduma and expressed their anger that they are tired with their MP’s poor performance and non-implementation of his 2020 campaign pre-election promises.

They noted that they had voted for Honourable Asiamah to win parliamentary seat as an independent candidate for Adansi Fomena North in the first time of Ghana's political history in the area.

This because, Mr Asiamah promised to lobby for social and infrastructure development to be brought to the area, but since he took over the seat he has completely failed them

In this regard, they are threatening not take part in 2024 elections following what they describe as discrimination and neglect by successive governments and Maps
The residents pointed out that they have been voting the NPP since 1992 and have not see any development after several promises.
Following this development, they had further threatened to snub Honourable Asiamah or any political party who will come there to do campaign come this elections.

According to them, the Meduma which was located on the Kumasi-Cape Coast main road is virtually deprived of social amenities like the good road networks, public toilet facilities, street lights, community durbar centre, proper market, good school buildings and good health infrastructure among others.

Although the people in Meduma of the  Adansi Fomena North Constituency
have been voting for the NPP government since in the year 1992, but the NPP  governments and MPs have been taking them for granted.
"Infact we have completely neglected by the NPP government, despite the fact that the people have the sitting Member of Parliament on the ticket of the NPP," they noted.

The residents bemoaned over the lack of proper ICT centres, toilet, drainage, market, water, sanitation and road infrastructure facilities, stressing that these above listed problems are confronting the residents in the area.

"Again the said roads network, ICT centres and poverty alleviation have been some of the major problems plaguing the people in  Meduma to which the current MP on several campaign platforms has promised to address but still to no avail after years of assumption in office," the residents told this journalist.
In this vain, the  residents called on the delegates and members of the party to vote against  Honourable Asiamah who was said to have planned to contest the next New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries.

"We have all disappointed in Honourable Asiamah so we are calling on the delegates to kick him out and bring a more formidable candidate who understands development to win the seat in the 2024 general election," they stressed.
Speaking in an interview with Soireenews.com, the Benkumhemaa of Meduma, Obaahemaa Beatrice Yeboah lashed out at the MP for failing to lobby for the developmental projects to be brought to Meduma.

According to her ,Honourable Asiamah didn't has a respect for the traditional office holders in Meduma, saying that since he took office as an elected the MP of the area, he never arranged to meet the traditional office holders in Meduma to discuss how to bring developmental projects to the Meduma as has been done by other selfless MPs in some constituencies.

"In fact l am telling you [referring to this journalist] on the authority that we the accredited traditional office holders who are staying in Meduma have openly supported the Lawyer Andrew Amoako Asiamah in his dream to win the constituency parliamentary seat as an independent candidate.

"Ever since we have massively voted for Lawyer Andrew Amoako Asiamah to win the Adansi Fomena parliamentary seat, the MP has no cordial working relationship with the traditional rulers in Meduma

However, we could only see that the MP would come to Meduma to have meetings with his supporters who executives and members of the NPP in Meduma," Obaahemaa Beatrice Yeboah bitterly complained.

According to her, the traditional office holders in the area were regretted for voting Lawyer Asiamah to win the seat, saying that the pieces of evidence available in Meduma enclave of the Adansi constituency clearly shows that nothing is working under this MP and the current DCE.”

She expressed concern about the deplorable state of some schools and lack of other developmental projects, in the area.
She noted that efforts by the traditional authorities to sort assistance of their MP
to address the issues have proved futile.
She said the Meduma who has a population of over 4000 lacked public toilet facilities and the unavailability of the facilities have forced the residents who didn't have toilet facilities in their various homes to defecate in the bushes, the situation which posses the health danger to them.
She said “if we would ever be deprived of social amenities, it should not be our schools, but unfortunately we are in the ditch.”
She indicated that the primary and the Junior Hhigh Schools at Meduma, needed more classroom blocks to accommodate students, adding that some of them learn under makeshift structures.
She complained that the current classrooms block of the various schools in the area had deteriorated and developed deep cracks.
She further complained that; “There is uncompleted public toilet facility with no doors and windows, and some unscrupulous residents have been defecating in the facility, compiling the traditional authorities to lock up the entrance of the toilet building.
For his part, the Meduma Unit Committee Chairman, Mr Kwabena Marfo stressed that by the end of this year if there is no development to improve the standard of living in Meduma Community by the MP they will not allow any political party to step foot in the community to campaign again.
He also expressed his worries on how they have being neglected by the sitting MP, DCE and the NPP ruling government although the Meduma is one of the electoral strong holds of the NPP.
He pointed out that they have made series of appeal to the Adansi North Assembly and Member of Parliament to come their aid but all proved futile.
They lamented that there is no social amenties in the community and school not to talk of good roads to transport their crops to the market; all their crops are left on the farm.
The Benkumhemaa and Unit Committee Chairman called on the government of President Nana Addi Dankwa Akufo-Addo and philanthropists to come to their aid since the lack of development in Meduma has turned area into a village.
When contacted by Soireenews.com on Tuesday August 1, 2023 to get his side of the matter, the MP simply responded that; "I don't know those people."
