Barcelona presidential candidate, Victor Font is still confident Xavi Hernandez will return to the Camp Nou to manage the Blaugranas despite turning down numerous opportunities earlier.

Font is a strong contender of the club’s presidential role and per his directives to reinstall the attractive and possessive football back to the Camp Nou after years of neglect, he sees Xavi as the right man to control the affairs of the club through the Blaugranas way of life.

As the election of a new leader pends following the resignation of Josep Bartomeu, Font is optimistic that the former multipurpose midfielder who is in charge of Al Sadd in Qatar will be useful.

"Xavi's dream is to be a coach," Font told Marca.

"We want Xavi to be the person in charge of the football structure.

"He will have enough power to make important decisions. He's clear that his dream is to be a coach, so as soon as the club need him in that position, it will happen."

Ronald Koeman’s job as the manager of Barcelona has come under scrutiny following inconsistent wins. Although the club have advanced into the knockout stage of the Champions League yet positioned third on the La Liga table having lost four, drawn four and won nine out of 17 matches.

Font spoke that Xavi is ever ready to take the mantle when called on board in his administration.

"We announced a structure based on what was agreed with Xavi," Font explained.

"Obviously we wouldn't have done it without his permission.

"If that had been the case, he would have come out and said it was nothing to do with him. All he said was that it didn't make sense to give explicit support to a single candidate."
