684 SHS Students Infected With Covid-19 in Eastern Region
The most contagious Covid-19 variant, originating from India, has been recorded in Ghana.

684 Senior High School students in 33 Districts and Municipalities have been infected with Covid-19 in the Eastern region of Ghana.
However, out of the above number, Asuogyaman District recorded the highest number with 157 cases among students, followed by Birim North with 66 cases, Lower Maya Krobo, 54, Kwahu East 48, Nsawam -Adoagyiri, 42 cases as of Sunday, June 20, 2021, meanwhile, no death was recorded among the students.
Eastern Region has a total of 30 active cases of Covid-19 out of the number, 27 are in New Juaben South Municipality, while Kwahu Afram Plains North and Nsawam have 2 and 1 active cases respectively, as of Sunday, June 20, 2021.
The total number of confirmed cases in the region since the pandemic entered the shores of Ghana stands at 4,395 with cumulative recoveries and discharges of 4,287 representing 97.5%
78 of the infected person however died, and the cases fatality rate in the region is 1.8%.
The number of Nurses infected so far in the region is 958 representing 21.8% with 6 fatalities recorded during the period.
