The President of Tano Subin Divisional Council who doubles as the Paramount Chief of Branam Traditional Area in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region, Nana Kwaku Bediako V has disclosed that harassment and extortion of money by Police personal along some notable roads from major food cultivation areas in the Wenchi Municipality have been contributing to post harvest losses, leading to the consistent upsurge in food prices.

Nana Kwaku Bediako V disclosed this in his speech delivered on the occasion of the 38th National Farmers Day celebration at Nwoase in the Wenchi Municipality.

He believes that the reduction in stoppage time and checkpoints for motorist carrying food products will tremendously contributes to post harvest losses.

Nana Kwaku Bediako V said the situation could continuously impact and threaten to ensure food security in the municipality.

He therefore called on the Chairman of the Wenchi Municipal security Council who doubles as the MCE to immediately address the situation to ensure free and smooth movement of foodstuffs to the market places.

The President of Tano Subin Divisional Council again called on the Wenchi Municipal security council to put the necessary measures in place to stop the Fulani herdsman from bringing their cattle into the area to protect farmers.
