African Games 2023: Ghana Beat Nigeria’s Falconets To Win Gold
Ghana were crowned champions of the women's football tournament at the 13th African Games after a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over defending champions Nigeria last night

The Black Princesses of Ghana defeated Nigeria’s Falconets in the Under 20 women’s football final at the ongoing African Games.
The match ended 2-1 in favour of Ghana after 120 minutes at the Cape Coast Stadium on Thursday night, March 21, 2024.
Nigeria opened the scoring in the first half through Loveth Edeh.
However, Tracy Twum restored parity for the host in the second half.
The match ended 1-1 after 90 minutes as both teams failed to score.
Mukarama Abdullai then scored a goal in the first half of extra-time to give Ghana a 2-1 lead.
Nigeria fought back in the second half of extra-time but failed to equalize as Ghana eventually won the gold in the women’s football final event.
Ghana thus regained the African Games gold they won in 2015.
The huge crowd in Cape Coast played a huge role as they cheered the home team to another famous victory.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria senior men's national team and their Ghanaian counterparts lock horns in another battle for supremacy later today (Friday) in Marrakesh, Morocco, when the Black Stars take on the Super Eagles in a friendly. Kick-off time is 5pm in Nigeria.
