Ghanaian actress, Lydia Forson says there shouldn’t be a need to appoint Coronavirus ambassador for the reason that Ghanaian celebrities do not need to be told to use their respective social media followings to help educate the public.

According to the actress, the statement has been misunderstood as people now have the notion that she is begging to become the ambassador for the deadly Coronavirus pandemic, after the number of Coronavirus cases rose to 16 in Ghana.

The Minister of Information Kojo Oppong Nkrumah announced the increase of the cases with an additional 5 cases confirmed on Friday morning.

The Minister for Information stated earlier that the administration has decided to use celebrities as ambassadors in order to use their social media platforms to inform the general public about important Coronavirus facts.

The administration felt that these celebrities can use their enormous platforms to educate the general since they have huge followers.

Lydia Forson disregarded the idea and made known that celebrities don't need to become ambassadors to promote the preventive measures of the pandemic.

"I don’t think we need wait on government to appoint #coronavirus ambassadors to disseminate information. I think every influencer should make their platform available to the ministry or information and health to share important information. All my pages are available”.

Many news platforms have taken the statement as an attempt to plead for a spot on the ambassadors list, with most saying that she was stylishly asking for the position.
