Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says the Free Senior High School policy introduced by his government was described as an impossibility and a misplaced priority by his political opponents yet it has been one of the successful implemented programs under his administration.

The Free SHS in it's initial stages was heavily criticized by a section of opposition parties as an unlikelihood yet its existence has received numerous of applause from the majority of citizens, religious and traditional leaders commending the president for his decision which puts the future of Ghana as the topmost priority of the New Patriotic Party's government.

 

 

The initiative since its employment has enrolled 1.2 million children, the highest in Ghana’s history.

The Chief of Nyinahini, Nana Amanpene Boateng Twum II during the launch of the Sinohydro project at a sod cutting ceremony on the construction of Roads and other projects lavished praise on the government. He address the gathering that the Free SHS is one of the ‘boldest policy ever made’ by any government in power.

‘I’ll take this opportunity to thank the NPP government for the free Senior High School policy since this is your first visit to the community after its implementation. It’s one of the boldest and the development oriented government policies since the country’s independence and Ghanaians shall forever be grateful to His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo and his government,” he commended.

On the unemployment situation, the president noted that 100,000 graduates have been employed through the Nation Builders’ Corps; 54,892 healthcare workers have been employed; and 66,357 teachers have gotten jobs since he came into office in 2017.

He added that the “One-Village-One-Dam” programme, and the Zongo Development Fund and the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP), are being pursued to stimulate job creation opportunities across the country.
