Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hopeful Paul Pogba will extend his stay at Old Trafford.

The French International has long been linked to Real Madrid before the coronavirus break. He made eight appearances before the restart following series of injuries, which kept him on the sidelines. Pogba signed a five-year contract with the Red Devils in 2016 and is in the final stage of the agreement.

His former expression was a statement that he prefers a move out of England and if his agent Mino Raiola is to be believed, Pogba will hold to his end of the deal until all is said and done.

Since returning from injury, Pogba has impressed since the restart and helped United to continue their winning spree by recording their ninth victory consistently in the Premier League as they intensify their top-four hopes. The Norwegian believes that the World Cup winner is happy at the club and will soon commit his future by penning a new deal.

"I can't comment on discussions between players and the club but of course we want to keep the best players," Solskjaer said.

"We want to build a squad for the future and Scott and Nemanja, they're in similar positions but in different stages of their careers - one at the start and one really experienced one.

"We also need players in that mid-range group so hopefully we can do something. I know that since Paul came back from injury he's looking better and better. He's just enjoying his football and let's see where it takes us."

Manchester United will play Aston Villa on Thursday at Villa Park and look to chase out Leicester from the European spot.
