Nollywood actress, Adunni Ade has said she finds speaking Yoruba language draining, adding that it sometimes hurts her nerves.

She said this when she featured in a recent episode of the Channels Television programme, Morning Brief.

The thespian born to a German-American mother and a Nigerian father of Yoruba descent, said she prefers English which is Nigeria’s lingua franca, stressing that all the other languages should be put aside.

She said, “Speaking Yoruba is draining, sometimes it hurts my nerves. The first language that we know in Nigeria is English. Let’s put all the other languages aside.”

She, however, appreciated that her father brought her to Nigeria to learn the Nigerian culture, language, and everything Nigerian.

She also added that a lot of people are quite rude about it and forcibly demand that she speaks her native language.

Admittedly, she realizes that many people are surprised she can actually speak Yoruba owing to her looks.
