Two Children are reported dead after being drowned in the Volta Lake at Yeji in the Pru East District of the Bono East Region.

The unfortunate incident claimed the life of two young boys believed to be at the ages of 5 and 3.

In a heartbreaking interview with a sister of the deceased, whom she gave her name as Afua, she narrated that "I came with them to the market after which we bought kenkey to eat, after eating, I told them I have to wash some clothes then we can go home and prepare fufu to eat.

"They both agreed to that, I even fetch them water to bath, they entered the Volta Lake but one lady told them to get out of which they obliged, so I thought they were out of the Lake while I was washing the clothes," she told.

According to Afua, when she realized that her brothers were getting drowned, she asked help from some men but unfortunately, they turned death ears to her appeal.

She further said the person who also tried to rescue the children slipped as he attempts to rescue them so he advised her not to make any attempt in stepping into the Volta Lake else she will also lose her life.

According to Afua, all attempts made to rescue her brothers didn't yield any results.
