A section of traders in the Ashanti Region have given diverse concerns of the coronavirus vaccination set to take flight among Ghanaian citizens yet per a curtain seller, Yaa Afriyie, only the military could compel her to partake in the preventive exercise.

According to her, the fact that the President and first lady of the land, Nana Addo Dankwa and Rebecca Akufo Addo together with Dr Mahamudu and Samira Bawumia and other prominent personalities have taken the vaccine does not compel her to do so.

Although Yaa Afriyie dismissed the idea of skipping the immunization yet she revealed of having made her mind to go for the shot in two to three months time when the results of earlier partakers are promising and no casualties recorded.

“I am not ready now,” she said.

“I will definitely be part of the immunization but that will be later. I'm waiting for answers from people who have already taken the lead. As I am speaking with you now, I am not infected and I don’t have to rush for the vaccine. I must hold on to know more if there is anything deadly attached to the vaccine before making a decision.

“If the government enforces all Ghanaians to partake, then it will take the military to force me to. I cannot decide whether everyone should be involved or not. Each and everyone has to make the decision based on his health status. What is best for you is what you must do. I am waiting for results and at the right time, I will make a decision, hopefully in two or three months’ time, when everything is assuring,” she added.

Soireenews on Monday, March 1, 2021, set into the streets of Kumasi Kejetia to know peoples idea concerning the coronavirus vaccination already taken publicly by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo ahead of the commencement on Tuesday, March 2, 2021. The results were positive and the ‘leader by example’ role set out by the Ghanaian President has seems to have changed the minds of people who had doubts about the vaccine.

“We had ill thoughts of the vaccine even before it arrived but the President and his vice have paved a way as leaders not only in country administration but facing the toughest times also,” Emmanuel Kwabena told.

“Their example has repented a lot of us and as I speak, I am ready for the vaccine whenever the doors are opened for immunization. Although each and everyone has his health status and there is a need to make sure the person’s health is checked before the vaccine is given.

“On the speculations of weakness in bed when one takes the vaccine, I have heard people say that and that was one of the scarier part. There is a need for the Health Service to provide solutions should in case the issue is true.”

Doris Amoah enlightened that there are always rumours surrounding every immunization exercise in Ghana so the situation is nothing new. She told that the country leaders are concerned enough about residents to put them through misfortunes.

“Immunization is not something new in Ghana. During our school days, these rumours surrounding them seem real but it’s a good step by the President of Ghana to take the lead. My advice to all Ghanaians is to prepare our minds to go through the process. It’s nothing dangerous and the president is not careless to put us in danger. If you won’t partake, stop commenting ill of the vaccination.”

According to the Ashanti Regional Health Directorate, vaccination will start in the Greater Kumasi, which comprises 16 District including the Kumasi Metro itself, the Municipals, and some surrounding Districts to targeted groups in order of service as part of the roadmap.
