Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has the backing of Manchester United Vice-Chairman, Ed Woodward regarding his job as manager, talkSPORTS has revealed.

The Norwegian has been under intense pressure from fans after his 3-1 loss to Paris Saint Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The loss put the Red Devils on a thin line of qualification as they visit RB Leipzig on Tuesday in Germany to decide their faith.

Consistency has not gone the way of the Manchester club and fans have called for the sacking of their former player to give way for an improved manager to handle the job yet Ed Woodward has spotted ‘positive signs’ in the 47-year old’s duties and has confessed that he will remain manager of the Red Devils regardless of the exit calls.

Woodward has further assured that Solskjaer will be backed with funds in the transfer window to improve the squad.

“What happens on the field is clearly our top priority, and while it’s not the same without fans in the stadium, we’ve seen lots of highs since our last meeting in April, with that 14-game unbeaten run to finish third in last season’s Premier League run and great wins against PSG and RB Leipzig on our return to the Champions League this season,” said Woodward who spoke to supporters at a fan forum via Zoom.

“Of course, we recognise there’s more hard work ahead to achieve the consistency needed to win trophies.

“But we see positive signs on the pitch and the training ground that reinforce our belief in the progress being made by Ole, his coaching team and the players.”
